Free at last!
Paducah Kitty finally got let out of quarantine for good last night after she tested roundworm-free. She had a quite a night playing with the other cats. I was periodically woken up by them racing up and down the hall.
Eggy was happy to return to the bedroom after it has been off-limits for the past few weeks and resumed her rightful sleeping place–on top of my legs. Paducah and her had to hash things out a bit last night before Paducah settled in for the night on E’s legs. Ah, one big happy family.
The main issue that we are having following full integration is that Paducah is eating all the food. The problem with that, besides the fact that the other cats aren’t getting enough to eat, is that we feed the adult cats the “diet” cat food, which really is not the proper diet for a four month old kitten.
We originally thought the main problem would be the adult cats eating her kitten food, so E devised a great set-up. We put her food inside the big carrier that we bought her after we first found her. E made a plexiglass door for the crate and cut a Paducah-sized hole that the other cats cannot fit it. It has worked well and no one else can get the kitten food but her. (We put the blue tape on it because she got confused and try to exit through the plexiglass)
And she has eaten all her kitten food, in addition to who knows how much of the adult food. Well, at least she is getting all the kitten-necessary nutrients.
